Intuit discontinued ItsDeductible on October 21, 2025. The donation tracker that TurboTax users relied on to log and value noncash gifts to charity no longer exists, and its login no longer works. If you didn’t export your data before the shutdown, it isn’t lost: Intuit lets you request it from your Intuit Account, and it arrives in a folder called SharedData.

This page answers the questions former users actually have — when it happened, where the data went, whether you can still log in, what TurboTax offers now, and what to do this tax year — with a link to Intuit’s or the IRS’s own page for each fact.

ItsDeductible Shutdown Timeline

Every date below comes from Intuit’s own ItsDeductible export help page (as captured by the Internet Archive) or Intuit’s current support articles.

DateWhat happened
June 2022Intuit’s help page announces it will discontinue ItsDeductible on October 17, 2022, after which “any data you entered into it will be deleted.”
On or about July 5, 2022Intuit reverses course and notifies users it has decided not to discontinue ItsDeductible. That reassurance was still on the help page in July 2025.
By September 3, 2025The same help page now reads: “On October 21, 2025, ItsDeductible will be discontinued.” Users can export 2021–2025 data as CSV or PDF, plus a 2025 Fair Market Valuation Guide, before that date.
October 21, 2025ItsDeductible is discontinued.
February 4, 2026 (updated)Intuit’s personal data help article documents the recovery route: ItsDeductible data is inside the SharedData subfolder of an Intuit Account data download.
March 13, 2026 (updated)Intuit’s help for a Fair Market Value (FMV) tool in TurboTax Online notes that “ItsDeductible was discontinued on October 21, 2025.”

The table shows why the 2025 shutdown caught so many people out: the 2022 reversal notice promised the tool would continue, and it was still on the help page in July 2025. By September 3 it had been replaced with a notice that the tool would end on October 21.

Why did Intuit discontinue ItsDeductible?

Intuit’s notice didn’t give a detailed reason. It said only that ItsDeductible would be discontinued and that “we apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause.” You’ll see theories about cost, usage, or product strategy — treat them as speculation unless Intuit confirms them.

What Happened to My ItsDeductible Data?

It depends on what you did before October 21, 2025.

If you exported before the shutdown

You have a CSV and/or PDF file for each tax year you downloaded (Intuit offered 2021 through 2025). Keep it with your tax records. The CSV can be imported into a new tracker — here’s how to import ItsDeductible CSV data.

If you never exported: request it from Intuit

Your data wasn’t deleted with the app. Per Intuit’s help article:

  1. Sign in to your Intuit Account.
  2. Select Data privacy.
  3. Select Download and follow the screens to submit your data request. On the Select the data you want to download screen, select TurboTax if you use TurboTax.
  4. Wait for the file — Intuit says requests “can take up to 15 days, depending on how much data is involved.”
  5. Open the SharedData subfolder. That’s where your ItsDeductible data is.

Donations already on filed returns

Donation amounts you already carried into a filed tax return are part of that return. Open your copy of the return if you need the figures you claimed.

Can I Still Log In to ItsDeductible?

No. The service was discontinued on October 21, 2025, so there is no ItsDeductible login to sign in to. TurboTax’s former ItsDeductible product page (turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/itsdeductible/) now redirects to a general TurboTax article on charitable contributions. Your Intuit Account login still works — that’s where you request your old data.

What Does TurboTax Offer Instead?

By March 2026 Intuit had added a Fair Market Value (FMV) tool to TurboTax Online. According to Intuit’s help article, you reach it from Deductions & credits → Donations to charity: enter the charity, check Items and stock, choose the category from the Type of donation menu, enter the Date of donation, then select Help me value my donations. You search for an item, TurboTax shows estimates for excellent/like-new and fair/used condition, and you enter the value you choose.

Asked whether this is ItsDeductible, Intuit’s own answer is: “No, this is a fair market value tool within the charitable donations section of TurboTax.” In practice:

  • It works at filing time. You value items while preparing your return, not as you donate through the year.
  • It is documented for TurboTax Online. Intuit’s article doesn’t describe it for other tax software or for use outside the return.
  • It isn’t described as a record-keeper. Intuit’s article covers valuing items for the return you’re preparing; it doesn’t describe a multi-year donation history like the one ItsDeductible kept.

If you value everything in one sitting at tax time and file with TurboTax Online, it may be all you need.

What Should Former ItsDeductible Users Do Now?

Whatever tool you pick, the IRS valuation and documentation rules below didn’t change when ItsDeductible did.

  1. Recover your history. Request your data from Intuit (above) if you didn’t export it, and keep past exports with your tax records.
  2. Value items at fair market value. IRS Publication 561 defines fair market value as the price a willing buyer and a willing seller would agree on. For used clothing and household goods, that’s roughly thrift-store price — not what you paid.
  3. Only deduct items in good used condition or better. IRS Publication 526 bars deductions for clothing and household items that aren’t, unless you deduct more than $500 for a single item and attach a qualified appraisal, reported in Form 8283 Section B.
  4. Get the right paperwork. Any single contribution of $250 or more needs a written acknowledgment from the charity (receipt rules explained). If you deduct more than $500 in noncash donations for the year, you file Form 8283.
  5. Log donations when you make them. ItsDeductible’s real value was the habit of recording each drop-off the day it happened. Keep that habit in whatever you use next — a spreadsheet, the TurboTax tool at tax time, or a dedicated tracker.

Your options, honestly

  • TurboTax Online’s FMV tool — fine if you file with TurboTax Online and value everything at tax time.
  • Your own records — a spreadsheet plus photos and receipts, valued against Publication 561 and a Goodwill donation value guide.
  • A year-round donation tracker — for people who want ItsDeductible’s log-it-as-you-go workflow back.

For these options side by side, including the donation value tools built into TurboTax, H&R Block, and TaxAct and the free do-it-yourself route, see our comparison of ItsDeductible alternatives on pricing, free tiers, ItsDeductible import, and TurboTax export.

DeductAble is a year-round tracker built for former ItsDeductible users: AI identifies each item and matches it to a fair market value from our catalog that you review and approve. It imports ItsDeductible CSV exports, has an iPhone app and a web app for iPad and other devices, and exports TXF for TurboTax Desktop. See the ItsDeductible alternative migration guide for how the import works.

ItsDeductible Shutdown FAQ

What happened to ItsDeductible? Intuit discontinued ItsDeductible, the donation tracker it offered alongside TurboTax, on October 21, 2025. Intuit’s notice gave users until that date to export their 2021–2025 donation data as CSV or PDF. The service is no longer available, but data that was not exported can still be requested from your Intuit Account: Intuit says it arrives in the SharedData subfolder of your personal data file.

Is ItsDeductible discontinued? Yes. Intuit discontinued ItsDeductible on October 21, 2025. Intuit had announced a shutdown once before, for October 17, 2022, and reversed that decision in July 2022 — but the 2025 discontinuation went ahead, and Intuit’s own support articles now state that ItsDeductible was discontinued on October 21, 2025.

When did ItsDeductible shut down? ItsDeductible shut down on October 21, 2025. Intuit’s help page carried the notice by September 3, 2025, at least six weeks before the deadline, and told users they could export their data for tax years 2021 through 2025 before October 21, 2025.

Can I still log in to ItsDeductible? No. The ItsDeductible login is gone: the service was discontinued on October 21, 2025, and TurboTax’s former ItsDeductible product page now redirects to a general TurboTax article on charitable contributions. To get your old records, sign in to your Intuit Account instead and request a download of your personal data.

What happened to my ItsDeductible data? It can still be recovered. Sign in to your Intuit Account, select Data privacy, then select Download and submit a data request (choose TurboTax if you use TurboTax). Intuit says requests can take up to 15 days, and your ItsDeductible data will be inside the SharedData subfolder of the file. Donations already included in tax returns you filed stay in those returns.

Did TurboTax replace ItsDeductible? Not with a tracker. By March 2026 TurboTax Online had a Fair Market Value (FMV) tool inside the Donations to charity section: you select “Help me value my donations”, search for an item, and see estimates for excellent/like-new and fair/used condition. Intuit’s help article states it is a fair market value tool within TurboTax, not ItsDeductible. It works while you prepare your return; it is not a year-round donation log.

Why did Intuit discontinue ItsDeductible? Intuit’s discontinuation notice did not give a detailed reason. It said only: “On October 21, 2025, ItsDeductible will be discontinued. We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause.” Explanations about cost, usage, or product strategy are speculation unless Intuit confirms them.

What should I use instead of ItsDeductible? You have three realistic options: value items at tax time with the TurboTax Online FMV tool, keep your own records against IRS Publication 561, or use a dedicated year-round donation tracker. DeductAble is one such tracker: AI identifies each item and matches it to a fair market value from our catalog that you review and approve, and it imports ItsDeductible CSV exports.
