Release Notes
What's new in DeductAble
Cross-Platform
- A Cleaner, More Intuitive App — Less clutter, simpler navigation, and easier donation entry, with a new DeductAble logo in the iPhone app and on the web, including Safari on iPad.
- Simpler Forms — Organization, date, and totals sit in one pinned line at the top of every entry form, and Save sits at the top right.
- Goods Form — Items edited in place under the pinned line, with a running total and estimated tax savings, and a rebuilt catalog browser that shows both condition values on every row.
- Find Your Organization By Name — Type a name and pick a state; every result shows its city and IRS EIN, with address search when an organization isn't listed.
- Exports You Can Trust — Choose a scope (all years, one year, or your current filter), then a format; TXF states how many donations it carries and that mileage is not included.
- Receipts From The Edit Form — Share (iPhone) or download (web) a receipt without going back to the list.
- Better Values — A "Good" item now gets the Good price, and malformed amounts are rejected before they reach your records.
- Resume Banner — An unfinished donation waits on your home screen with a Resume button.
- Sharper AI Assistant — Describe or photograph what you gave and the assistant builds the record, now on an upgraded model with the same welcome and suggestions on iPhone and web.
- Clearer Messages — Friendlier error copy throughout, and skeleton rows instead of spinners while lists load.
- Stuck? Just Ask — The assistant answers questions about using the app, like how to export for TurboTax, from Ask the Assistant in the menu or the ✦ button; the old Support Chat and App Tour are gone.
- Charities Are Now Organizations — The page, pickers, forms, reports, and exports all use the new name.
- Batch Import — Hand the assistant up to 20 photos, receipts, PDFs, handwritten lists, or spreadsheet screenshots at once; it reads them together and groups them into donations you review before saving.
- Add To A Donation You Already Saved — Tell the assistant to add items to yesterday's donation, or attach a photo mid-conversation, and it joins that draft instead of starting a new one.
- A Value, Not $0 — When the catalog cannot price an item the assistant asks you, and it now prices everyday words like sneakers and mugs.
- Your Words, Your Draft — The assistant keeps the names you typed, corrects itself in place with Yes/No prompts, shows a running summary above the composer, and offers next-step buttons after every reply.
- Notifications At The Top — Confirmations and errors appear at the top of the screen and never cover Save or Add.
- One Menu Style, One Icon Set — Every long-press and ⋯ menu looks the same, and goods items get the same menu (swipe to delete on iPhone).
- Catalog That Counts — The browser shows how many of an item you already added and reprices when you change an item's condition.
- Account Fixes — Switching accounts on one device no longer mixes donations, and email sign-ins stay signed in between launches.
iOS
- A Cleaner, More Intuitive iPhone App — Simpler navigation, large titles that collapse as you scroll, capsule buttons, one sheet style, and larger small text.
- Donations By Year — Grouped cards, a floating ✦ Add with AI button, and a + for manual entry.
- Reorganized Menu — Settings, Organizations, Reports & Export, Import, and Support.
- Back Up Before You Lose It — Accounts that never signed in get a one-time prompt to back up their donations.
- AI Needs A Free Account — Sign in with Apple, Google or email to use the assistant; your donations on this iPhone move into the new account.
- Items Added In Place — Goods items are typed straight into the list, with no separate sheet.
Web
- A Cleaner Desktop Workspace — One grouped sidebar, no top bar, large page titles, and a wider list with a totals column.
- Phone Web Matches iPhone — Drawer navigation, the same year-grouped dashboard, and the same floating entry pill.
- Import That Tells You What Failed — ItsDeductible rows that could not be imported are named by organization, date, and row number.
- Price Before Checkout — The plan and price appear before Stripe.
- Add From Anywhere On Desktop — The same floating ✦ pill and + chooser as on your phone; the donation-type page is gone.
- Goods Form Built For A Wide Screen — A floating add-item bar and the catalog docked beside the form, one tap to add.

iOS
- Improved Item Recognition — A missing catalog match no longer prevents other donated goods from being recognized.
Web
- Better Keyboard Navigation — Sign-in and Settings controls are easier to reach and understand when using a keyboard.
Cross-Platform
- Type Quantities Directly — Every goods screen now accepts a typed quantity, so entering 124 of something takes one entry instead of 124 taps. Fractional quantities are supported too.

- Improved ItsDeductible Import — Donation totals are recalculated from their items and template columns are matched by name, so imported files come through accurately.
- Stronger Account Separation — Additional safeguards keep each account's tax details isolated when more than one person signs in on the same device.

Cross-Platform
- Categorise Your Own Items — Items the catalog doesn't cover can now be given a category yourself, on both the goods screens and the AI assistant.

- Steadier Dashboard — Summary cards and donation lists now wait for your data before drawing, so a loading screen is never mistaken for an empty one.
- Mileage on Receipts — Imported mileage recorded as a fixed dollar amount now appears on PDF receipts as that amount, and is kept separate from mileage calculated at the IRS standard rate.
- Clearer Export Options — The export format dialog scrolls on smaller screens and spells out exactly which donations the current filter covers.
iOS

Cross-Platform
- Sync Reliability Overhaul — Changes you make offline — donations, charities, and receipts — now reliably reach the cloud once you're back online, with automatic retries and a sync badge that accurately shows anything still waiting.

iOS
- Prior-Year Exports Fixed — The prior-year PDF and TXF export options now always cover that entire tax year, even when home-screen filters are active.
